  • The easiest way to have NanoFoil® parts customized for your NanoBond® application is to let us cut them for you.

There are many ways to trim the foil, each method has advantages and disadvantages. Let’s compare them:

    Hand Cut:

    • Pros: Very simple (use a glass cutter), inexpensive
    • Cons: Roughest edges, lowest dimensional accuracy

    Laser Cut:

    • Pros: Highest dimensional accuracy, smooth edges, flexible manufacturing
    • Cons: Highest cost

    Die Cut:

    • Pros: Lowest cost in high volume
    • Cons: Specialized tooling is required, not practical for most prototyping

    Chemical Etching:

    • Pros: Good compromise between cost and accuracy
    • Cons: Still developmental as of late 2012
