Making Solder Preforms

Once an order is placed for the solder preforms that you have specified, Indium Corporation begins the manufacturing process promptly; we have a lot of steps to go through and want to get you the parts quickly!

We begin with raw materials that need to go through all, or most, of the following steps:

(Click on the links for a description of each process. I'll activate each link as these posts become published.)

The lead-time reflects the cumulative time it takes for us to melt the raw materials and blend them into a precision alloy, turn the alloy slug into a ribbon or foil, cut the ribbon or foil to the shape of the preform, and repeat for the volume of the order, apply the flux (if required), and package it. All of this happens with quality checks at each step, and again before it leaves the facility.
