  • In addition to being a Technical Support Engineer for Indium Corporation, I also work as the Student Chapter Liaison for the Empire State iMAPS chapter.  This iMAPS chapter has an Advanced Technology Workshop coming up on September 24 at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Marcy, NY.  More information can be found at the event website.  Abstracts are required to be 300-500 words and are due by June 26, 2015.

Especially of interest for students is that there is a paper/poster competition being sponsored by the Microelectronics Foundation.  Students must submit abstracts and choose the label "yes, I am a full-time student" to be automatically considered.  Benefits of this program are that students:

    • are encouraged to be proud of their research
    • gain experience writing papers and/or creating research posters
    • gain experience giving presentations to live audiences
    • gain exposure to industry experts and are also exposed to those same people
    • also have an opportunity to earn cash prizes for their content

A call for papers is currently ongoing and anyone doing research in the field of semiconductor packaging is encouraged to submit.  We are very excited and want to provide the very best and most technical information to all who attend.

In addition to this, I am happy to announce that a new iMAPS student chapter has just been created at SUNY Polytechnic.  We plan to provide the students with outside presentations and expertise from industry as well as all of the benefits that come from being an iMAPS member - most notably expert contacts and content.
